In 2012 Mud Masters introduced a new type of event to the Netherlands. A large group of participants with various backgrounds makes up the Mud Masters community. All events were sold out weeks in advance. Within a year over 20.000 men and women have participated and Mud Masters has grown to be the biggest obstacle run in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Participants have enriched themselves with an unforgettable experience and can wear the Mud Masters Finisher's Shirt with pride (and brag to their friends about it).
Besides perseverance and camaderie, humor is an important factor to make it to the finish line. The course is designed by marines and is inspired by the most challenging military obstacle courses in the world.
Mud Masters raises money for the Rehabilitation fund (Revalidatiefonds) and encourages (former)patients to participate. At Mud Masters 2012, men and women with leg-prosthesis (and even a wheelchair!) completed the course, no short-cuts! They inspired thousands of participants and spectators with their perseverance.
